Rozz The Cat

I arrived in Detroit as part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). During my visit, I encountered the “Murals in the Market” festival in the Eastern Market area, and the energy of the place, along with the strong connection between street art, community, and the urban space, inspired me to create a mural in the city.

Through a connection with Bethany Shorb and ״ well done goods" team, the idea emerged to paint Rozwell, the beloved shop cat, as the central figure of the mural. The painting is based on a small, intimate local story and translates it into the visual language of street art, as a tribute to the unique character of the place and the bond between people, animals, and their environment.

painting on walls is one of the oldest forms of expression, used as a tool to pass on stories and messages between people, communities, and cultures. For me, in today’s modern society, they continue to serve a similar purpose - creating connection, sparking thought and emotion, and bringing liveliness into public spaces.
